I bought tickets for a concert from TicketMaster in mid-Sept. I noticed charge on card statement from TLG GreatFun $16.99, called 800-290-**** to dispute the charge.

Evidently by checking to receive information about $20 rebate on the TicketMaster charge, I agreed to a membership to TLG Great Fun. As I tried to cancel, they just wanted to convince me of the benefits of keeping the membership.

I was told the membership would be cancelled, refund processed immediately, credited to card within 10 days. Waiting to see if this happens.

Beware of these types of offers online.

Monetary Loss: $16.

Location: Rochester, New York

Ticketmaster obviously knows about this scam and is receiving a cut of the money that they trick people out of. Just buy your tickets at the venue box office.

I am not mad at the call center who is answering the phones for this offer because I worked in a call center and its rough. I sold power tools to contractors who literally asked me tough questions about construction and such.

I knew my stuff and had good sales but believe me I hated that job because I hate pushing people even though I was good at it. However the company is a scam. The company like any other company outsourced their call center to a well educated and articulated company. But the company great deal or great fun or fun house is a scam.

I didnt give my credit card information because that is crazy to do over the phone. If I am giving money for a service then i need verification of the effectiveness of the company. The company may be legitimate but what they tell their call centers to say is ridiculous.

I was told to tell people they get a 2 week trial with a power tool but in reality this 2 week trial started at the time of purchase so after shipping and processing time they got a 3 day trial if they were lucky. So just say no, be a smart shopper people, but dont blame the call centers

My sister bought concert tickets online, and I let her pay for them with my debit card. I got a call about great fun and did not really want it, but decided I would because they said I could cancel and would not be charged if i did not use the card they sent.

I never used the card and cancelled within a month. In september TLG shopper charged me $20. In october great fun charged me $19.99 and TLG shopper charged me $21.95.

These companies have stolen over 60 dollars from me in two months. Do not give them any sort of information

I bought tickets on Live Nation and was too offered the $15 dollars mail in rebate on my purchase of 2 tickets. I thought...

why the heck not?! Save $15, sure! But, when I called I was directed to a women who spoke 50 miles a minute and hardly took a breath. After she offered me this "Trial" for Great Fun, I immediately and politely denied it.

BUT, she continued on and pressing me until I'd give in. She threw in, "you can cancel at anytime, so.. what you do think". I still said no, but just then went on another rant.

Long story short. I know have to call them tomorrow, because I see a charge on my card for $14 for some Ticket Insurance (which I did not agree to), and now it looks as though they're going to charge me the $1 initial fee for this "Great Fun Package" garbage. So, for a $15 dollar refund... there is definitely a loop hole scam going on.

Sure, they may rebate 415 dollars at the end of it all, but not without taking more money from you, and adding a headache on top of it! Never again...

I just fell for this too...I checked the link and what got me was that it said it was a ticketmaster link. It said, one time offer.ticketmaster...etc.

So I figured it was legit and connected to TM and I'd be cool. I called and told them I was NOT interested in any other deals. Hopefully they never send me anything now that I know it's a scam.

I usually research before I do stuff like this, and as I said the only reason I didn't look it up was BECAUSE their link had "TicketMaster" in it...screw these liars. Ticketmaster should be ashamed of having this on their site.

First off; I am an agent that answers phones for the process of these rebates sponsored by Great Fun. When you are calling this phone number, we directly are NOT Great Fun, we are simply just agents.

I'd like to clear some things up for you. Because personally, I don't want to be scammed and I don't want anyone else to be either. I ALWAYS make sure my customers completely understand what is going on before ever accepting a credit card number. In fact, if billing terms are not stated and understood and accepted, the "sale" will fail. Even if customer credit card information was given, the sale will NOT go through if the customer has not agreed to terms or are not fully understood. (All calls are monitored.)

SECONDLY: It is true that we DO NOT have your credit card information or ANY information about you that you have not provided. I take anywhere between 60-100 calls a day. I get asked the same question at least 10 times a day. "Don't you already have my information?"

.. How would we possibly have any information about you just by you calling a toll free number? . .

And also "YOU ALREADY HAVE MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION??"

No. . No . . No . .We do not.

Third: If you did not call us, we don't even know you exist.

Summary of what I do: I take your name, address, and email and process your rebate. We VERY RARELY get complaint calls. You did NOT have to join the membership to get the rebate that you called about. The membership and additional rebates, are just that. ADDITIONAL. And optional.

Any concerns about "back ground noise" and agents "studdering" while answering questions:

We work in a call center, on a call floor that has at least 30 other agents in the same area, doing the same thing that we are. With that being said, we go through 3 days of training. And we are scripted, with Q&A's that we must find in time to answer your questions before we can get it out. We're not verbally educated on any terms or regulations on the service or the rebates, we have to read through Q&As to answer your questions. Therefore any new agents (between 1 month and 2 months since hire), will have trouble navigating and finding the answers to your questions, get nervous, and studder. We don't know how to prove that we're not a scam, we simply have scripted answers. We are told by our company and supervisors that your mail box and email boxes will not be used for anything but the process of your rebate, used with a scripted Q&A "your information will not be sold and is kept completely confidential". Our agents are not perfect. We are not Great Fun agents. We're simply people that process your rebates and get your Great Fun savings privelges started.

To be honest, whether you join the service or not, it really doesn't bother us. We're on to the next call, and sign many many people up every single day. I honestly feel that if you listened to us, communicated with us and appreciated the fact that we're not some automated service . .Were REAL people. .you would understand that we're really not even scamming you. -.-

Oh and . . if you could at least try to be nice to us. :zzz Our job is very stressful and our supervisors put a lot of stress on us. I've seen a lot of agents break down and cry because of so much negativity and the rudeness of people is just insane. We only are doing our job, and trying our hardest to protect you from really truthfully being scammed.

i did the same thing, and thought cool, i'll just cancel after one month, you know? well i emailed them to cancel and got no response, and so much stuff in my life happened that i honesty forgot to check up on things and i just now noticed i've been charged 16.99 every month since october.

!!! what should i do?

i literally just deleted all of the great fun emails today, too, absentmindedly like an ***. i doubt i will get my money back even though i did opt to cancel a LONG time ago

I clicked for rebate and called the # and came across this board while on the phone w/rep. Good info b/c the woman on the phone was stuttering and stammering when I asked if I would get spam or texts or put on a list from this.

She said no I asked her to guarantee that she put me on hold came back I found this page and questioned her about membership charges. She denied it!

Told her I was looking at posts from ppl who were charged for a membership as a result of this offer then she came clean about a trial membership I can cancel at anytime. Any company that makes you drag the truth out of them TOTAL SCAM in my opinion the lady lied out both sides of her mouth.

I bought tickets from Ticketmaster and had them delivered in the mail. With the tickets was the $15 rebate rebate insert from Great Fun.

I called the number and patiently listened to the sales pitch. I politely but firmly declined Great Fun's offer, and received via email a form that I was to fill out and mail in. I was on the phone for less than five minutes -- $15 for 5 minutes of my time is not a bad deal. I mailed the form on May 2, 2012.

I returned from a 10-day trip today and found a check for $15 (drawn on J.P. Morgan-Chase Bank, N.A.) from Great Fun! in my mailbox.

The check was dated 5/18/12. This is a legitimate offer, you just have to know how to say "NO" to the sales pitch.

Guest

You cannot be charged unless you are the *** who didn't listen to the explanation and said yes AND also somehow gave a credit card number, expiration date, card type and all that. I don't know how people don't make sure what they are being charged for before agreeing absentmindedly

Guest

I purchased tickets from TM and elected to get the $15 rebate. I called the # and they sent a form in the mail to fill out and return, and then a check is to be mailed to me.

It's been over a month, I haven't gotten a check or any mail from them...and so far no charges on my card.

I did tell them that I didn't want to sign up for any other service I just wnted my rebate. I'm a little worried now tho after reading all these complaints....I will just say NO next time!

I am the original poster of this comment. I can confirm that I did get my money back but it was because I disputed the charge with the credit card company, not because TLG Great Fun issued the credit on their own.

To anwser Janet's question, I can tell you that I did not call them until I saw the charge. I clicked the button to get a $15 rebate on my ticket purchase. When I saw what I had to do to get the rebate, I just closed the window. So my thought is that TM has to give them my information.

I wrote to TM a couple times, but no response has ever been received.

Guest

ok so to all you folks who have been through this: if i called Great Fun & gave them a name, email & mailing address will they now be able to drain my bank account?

i think not (i can't imagine TM actually giving them my card #) but i'm stressing out. what happened to you guys?

Guest

Really? Nobody who posted almost 4 months ago has posted any new info about there experiences? What happened?

I fell for this after Ticketmaster purchase. I just called Great Fun back after calling about the rebate this morning and was told by Patty that ticketmaster does NOT share account information with them and that to be charged I would have had to agree to the promotion and provide them my billing info - which I told them 3 times I was not interested in and i didn't provide them anything.

Supposedly I am to recieve an email within 5 days for the $15 which Patty told me "was just for calling them to hear about the offer" We shall see. Why didn't I research darn it.

I just purchased tickets from Ticket Master, and I clicked on the 15 dollar rebate to see what it was all about. I never called the number, but do I still have the potential of being charged just by clicking on the ad? Has anyone been charged without calling their phone number first?

Guest

My offer was for a $15 FREE rebate (Are rebates ever not free?). I Googled the number (877-221-****) and saw it was in Englewood, Washington.

I called it, got the automated voice saying the call may be recorded, then hung up.After reading these comments, I'm thinking the potential fifteen bucks may not be worth the time and effort to get it. Thanks for posting, everyone!

:( Having just wasted nearly two hours on the Great Fun debacle, I felt compelled to post.

After making a Ticketmaster purchase, I saw the box that said I could "Learn More" about receiving a $15 rebate. Having worked in online marketing for decades, I knew it likely wouldn't be worth my time. However, sometimes companies simply want you to sign up for a mailing list or the like in exchange for a rebate, so I wanted to "learn more." BIG MISTAKE.

This single click on something not even labeled "Advertisement" led me to a pop-up ad that suggested I call a number. At this point, I had no intention of doing so and did not. However, the ad itself made me feel like something was "off" (probably because they weren't explaining the offer, or asking you to take action "in order to" receive something). I became worried I may have just inadvertently opened myself up to a scam by clicking for "more details" (on what service, I have no idea) without my consent.

After a quick Google search on the topic, it became clear that Ticketmaster has partnered with blatant scammers. Ticketmaster is obviously aware of this, as the first person I spoke with there mentioned the sheer number of calls they receive on the topic. She could not tell me if my card information had been shared with a third party. She transferred me to a "Fan Support Specialist" (customer service rep), who basically refused to let me speak to his supervisor and ultimately hung up on me after wasting 20 minutes of my time by insisting he was the top supervisor and there was nothing he could do but give the third-party number.

After reading about how many people have been scammed by TLG Great Fun (under a variety of recent names, for a variety of amounts, running from $10 to $150) because consumers by the company or Ticketmaster have literally clicked on an ad that doesn't even imply a sign-up, I finally decided to call my bank. Unfortunately, the card I used was a Visa check/debit card, meaning there is no recourse to stop a charge once it has come through. Being as I could not predict the charge amounts, timing, or even accurately predict how the company would bill itself, my bank representative suggested I could only prevent the fraudulent charges by canceling the card, which I did. In the long run, it seems easier than dealing with endless fraudulent charges from a company that apparently not only refuses but *hangs up on* people who request a refund for a charge they never consented to in the least (with bank information they only entered for a ticket purchase beforehand).

This is beyond reprehensible, and fairly illegal, as evidenced by various fraud charges / class action suits against GreatFun. Ticketmaster has lost a loyal customer of more than two decades, and I plan on telling them exactly why.

If you clicked "to learn more" or "for details," here are the steps I would recommend in hindsight, particularly after reading a host of first-hand experiences with this issue:

1. Call your credit card issuer and cancel the card. It's a massive pain in the *** but will save you the time and energy and stress of futilely attempting to change it through normal, sane routes.

2. Call the vendor (in this case, Ticketmaster, or Priceline or whoever ran this ill-labeled, poorly worded, deceptive ad) and let them know in no uncertain terms that you did not authorize this charge and that they have lost your future business as a result. They will likely not help you but give you a party line about it being GreatFun's problem, but it helps to add your voice.

3. Boycott companies who run this advertisement deceptively as an informational offer.

I've seen advice online to wait 48 hours and see if the charges come through, or to call GreatFun directly, but neither of those seem to have worked well for most. Many people simply have *clicked* to "learn more" and been charged for months, years, or high amounts (apparently for a virtually nonexistent "service"). My advice is to skip the frustrating long call to Ticketmaster, don't open yourself up to more trouble with GreatFun (apparently asking for more information and ultimately denying refunds in most cases), and cancel your card and/or proactively dispute the charges.

I just called these ninnes and repeatedly said that I do not want to sign up for any service. I just want my rebate.

The guy claims that because They don't have any account information I will not be charged for anything. We'll see.

So help me if I see one charge from Great Fun-somethings GOING DOWN MAN!!! :(
